Chinese New Year & Black History Month
In February, we wave goodbye to the Year of the Dragon & welcome the Year of the Snake.
Diversity teaches children to respect and celebrate the differences in all people. Exploring different cultural aspects offers new experiences for children. Fun foods with facts and traditions of the Lunar New Year will be experienced throughout the celebration.
*Fun Fact: If you were born in 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025 you are the Year of the Snake. Those born in the Year of the Snake symbolize wisdom, elegance and mystery.
For Black History Month, we will explore around the contribution of black people to history and through art, literacy, music and movement and geography. Throughout the month we will introduce our preschoolers to leaders, inventors, artists and trailblazers who have made significant contributions to society. Through exposure to cultural diversity we can teach each new generation the importance of inclusion and justice.
Fun Fact: February was chose for Black History month because it coincides with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas. Two important figures in the abolition act.
Heartfelt Thoughts
Dear Families,
Let us welcome February and take every opportunity to share love! Our January curriculum explored the arctic, hibernation, and polar animals.
Through Global Trotters we have traveled and learned about Antarctica. We focused on the difference between Arctic and Antarctic Animals.
In February we are going to China to learn about the Chinese New Year and the Chinese culture.
With love in the air and Valentine’s happiness around the corner, it is a great opportunity to learn more about feelings and emotions. Our February curriculum enhancement is Happy Healthy Hearts. A healthful environment can produce the overall benefit of a longer and more productive life. Good habits and life skills learned when young tend to stay for life.
Parent Night Out- Inside Out

Mystery Readers
This month we invite “Mystery Readers” to each classroom. Sign up by email and come in or send in a video story that holds special meaning to you or your child. The children will be told a “Mystery Reader” will be visiting but the reader will be a surprise! Join us in expanding literacy and celebrate family!
